East San Joaquin Water Quality Coalition

Project Description Project Dates: 2004 - present

The East San Joaquin Water Quality Coalition (ESJWQC) began monitoring in 2004 in compliance with the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program. The ESJWQC strategically monitors within the Coalition area to characterize agricultural discharge and measure the improvement of water quality as a result of the implementation of management practices.

Additional information regarding the ESJWQC can be found on their website at: http://www.esjcoalition.org/home.asp

Monitoring Objectives

The objective of monitoring performed by the ESJWQC is to characterize discharges from agricultural lands in the Central Valley east of the San Joaquin River within Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties and portions of Calaveras County.  Agricultural coalitions and irrigation districts must monitor to determine the quality of water discharged into waters of the state and measure the improvement in water quality as a result of the implementation of management practices.
